While some users expected a more elaborate design, possibly featuring a dramatic white stone, currency notes with his signature, or even a depiction of a parliament building, others appreciated the understated simplicity.
One Twitter user commented, “I was expecting a dramatic white tombstone, currency note with his signature, and a parliament building,” while another remarked, “Really.. this tomb looks like it’s on the cheap side!”
However, not all feedback was critical.
A supportive comment noted, “Glad they captured his real lifestyle; he didn’t like flashy and showing off.”
Mboweni’s tombstone serves as a fitting tribute to a man who valued simplicity and authenticity throughout his life.
